Theory. Not that it's everyone's cup of tea, but you learn a whole lot more about how computers actually work 'close to the metal'. If your goal is to simply work as a programmer, then vocational schools are perfectly fine. If you're truly passionate about programming however, I'd still recommend going to Uni for CS or CEng.
I'm a first year CS major, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Upper division CS lectures are ballin' as shit though.
