So I've been browsing the forums lately, and I've seen more activity in the Off-Topic Subforum than anywhere. This is a forum for SCP: Containment Breach, not for screwing around. We need more people at the Collaboration, General Discussion, etc. Subforums; we need to STAY ON TOPIC. I suggest some restrictions to this Subforum if people are to visit it:
1. No more pointless threads.(Example: Screw Around Thread V4: Thisisme Edition)
2. Don't bring up drama from other websites.
2A. Family drama is okay, as it lets users vent and get help from those who had experience with that sort of problem.
2B. Troll drama should be avoided at ALL COSTS.
3. Keep the forum game threads at a minimum.
3A. A maximum of about 2-4 would be preferred.
4. Making threads that attack/troll certain users is not permitted.(Example: This guy/girl named "X" did "X" and he's/she's a fucking cunt and you should all hate him/her.)
5. Spewing gibberish into threads should be dealt with ASAP.(Example: Threads like "Do you feel distressed" should be terminated.)
6. Roleplaying in threads other than the thread made specifically for it by an amazing moderator should be avoided if possible.
7. The forums are for the game, don't focus mostly on the off topic part.
8. Don't make pointless threads.
9. Don't write pointless posts.
10. Don't change the subject of the thread unless it is relevant.
Unless a moderator/admin decides to add/remove things to/from the list, these will be the recommended restrictions on the Off-Topic section.
Re: Stay on topic
#2So basically you are suggesting that we continue business the same way we have been.
Re: Stay on topic
#3Collab and General threads have been rather empty recently, hence why I haven't posted much there.
I'm not here as much right now, mention me on our Discord server if you need anything.

#4(I posted this likely seconds after Glitch, so this is meant to be directed at Awesomeguy)
That was actually funny. Because Off-Topic has been focused on much more than every Subforum combined. Take a look at most of the users' activity. You'll likely find: "Most Active Forum: General Off Topic" whereas mine is "Modding" and a very few is "Collaboration" or "General Discussion".

Re: Stay on topic
#5I said that because the restrictions you suggested would really not change anything because they are either already prohibited things via the rules of the forum, or they are just things that don't normally happen (Like 15 to 20 Forum games, I don't think we ever had more than 9 forum games being active at a time).D-9999 wrote:(I posted this likely seconds after Glitch, so this is meant to be directed at Awesomeguy)

Re: Stay on topic
#6There's been a bit of activity in the collab section, but yea, the modding section is dead with the exception of a few threads (sam and juan usually wait until their projects are done before releasing any info). I'm considering picking up the B3D compiler again, but I don't have any good ideas at the moment and I'd rather get beck to writing stuff in C/++. (Doing pathetically simplistic Java for intro CS at uni, to meh for my tastes) Hopefully I can get my old source back, assuming I get access to the old dev hdd back at home.

Hence why I left the list incomplete, because I didn't know what else to address. The Off-Topic Subforum has too much screwing around as it is, and someone has to address these issues, and I'm sure many know what these are, but are afraid to say what they are, or they have and people drowned them in the sea of threads. Someone had to put up a list of restrictions, be them complete or not. If a moderator/admin knows what else to add, they can. If someone else wants something added, just post it here or PM me. That's why I left the sentence at the bottom of the post.

Re: Stay on topic
#8I'm sorry, but what makes you think you can just put rules into the forums? I mean, I DO agree with you, that the off-topic is having more attention than the General and Collaboration threads; and that sometimes people bring in the most pointless and stupid drama for no reason whatsoever. But you can't just suddenly put a bunch of rules and expect people to follow them.
What I see that is the most problematic is the absurd amount of useless threads. While there is some drama here and there, it isn't too big of a deal (except on some various occasions). To me it seems that people come here and instead of participating in the SCP: CB discussion, they just mess around in the off-topic forum with pointless threads. I don't see any problems with things that are somewhat related to SCP such as the RP or the 914 game. However, those things make sense because these forums are primarily for the SCP universe. Threads like the MLP official thread (I have nothing against MLP or people who watch it, but why the hell bring it here? Why not discuss it in private or in a forum that i primarily for MLP or just shows in general?), or threads that are about problem you have that has nothing to do with the forums. The off-topic section is supposed to be the one with the LEAST activity since the main focus is the game and SCP related stuff.
I may sound hypocritical, which I probably am seeing as I agree with you. It is just that I don't like when people start bossing others around or just putting rules expecting people to obey them immediately.

Re: Stay on topic
#9I love this game and wished there could be more done to the forums.
I honestly think all these subforums should be cleared and re-worked from scratch (except stickied threads if possible), though that might be abet difficult in some circumstance.

#10(directed at Spartan if anyone else posted before me)
Ahem, when did I say that these should be followed? These are suggestions, hence the "fine print" in the first post by me. And I wasn't saying anything against the RP Thread. Read the suggestions again. And, no offense, but wouldn't the 914 game be more "fitting" in the Foundation discussion? It does relate to the SCP Universe. Where the RP Thread DOES relate to it, it's good at Off-Topic. And by "game threads," I mean like, "The Delete Game," "The Video Response Game," etc. And I agree with some points you make, and I'm glad you see some of mine.
I simply put this here as suggestions as I said once before. I'm not trying to start an argument, but the way you came off with the first sentence was a bit rude and could've been touched up on, though I really don't care how people talk to me, just for future reference, please try and be a bit more erm, kind(that's an okay word for now) in the introduction. Though I do agree that I shouldn't be given any right to post rules, I was just asking for people to consider that this is a forum about SCP: Containment Breach and not a forum for "LOLZ OFF-TOPIC PAOST DUR AN NAWT COLABBURAET HEUHUEHUEHUEHUEHEKRMFV" if you know what I mean.
