I can't really blame the parents. They grew up with heavy metal and punks fucking around in discos, and suddenly their son watches a children's tv show with LOTS OF FRIENDS.

It just fits together. I don't know, there are probably a lot of pedophiles lurking in the MLP Scene. Maybe if you take off your Pony-suit your parents will be more inclined to trust that you can take care of yourself.

But why do you have to bring attention to the 'older' aspect? Do you really have to use such a name to differ from the younger fans of the show? It's just weird because this is the only fandom I know of that separates itself in this way without actually doing any structural separating. You don't call older fans of One Piece 'Salty Pirates' so I'm wondering why this age distinction is so important for this show in particular.

To be fair, your parents do have reason for concern. Not so much because you watch a show that some pedos might watch, but rather, because you're a teenager stating that he's essentially part of some 'cult' (From the way some of you explain this hobby, it does sound like it) that they don't know much about during your adolescent years. Most parents would usually get a bit worried, regardless of what you say you joined.

It's not just Bronies who have a fandom name, you have Furries, Otakus, Otherkin (basically furries), Whovians, Trekkies, MSTies (Mystery Science Theater 3000, I loved that show), Potterheads.
Those last 4 I got off Wikipedia, but I'm sure you catch my drift, when enough people like something, they want a way to be identified as a group.

i know luna this person is not a drama hog, blappy i don't know but luna has never said a bad thing about him. and yes you don't see a lot of princess luna (reference to the person in the show) sadly, i wish we could see more of her and discord they remind me a lot of me and my awkward dispositions and randomness
