Hostile SCPs shouldn't be "activated" by the player purposely freeing them. That would be pointless and less scary.

Hostile SCPs should be freed already, like 049.

Maybe some scripted event? Like a bunch of surviving guards near it's room, protecting their wounded counterparts and therefore blocking player's way through. In this case they could be heard through radio transceiver, requesting help.
Player can get to the controls of the containment cell if have enough clearance and cause system overload. It will lead to the shutdown of light in the cell for 3 seconds. Then it automatically restores, but during the process the light in the corridor "blinks", whereupon player can see that all guards were wiped out and 017 let loose.

As for the mechanics, I think, that it's implied that people and objects are casting shadows anyway. So, maybe it will just cover the target that will come close enough as shown in the video, consume it and return to normal form? In such case player can cheat it by leaving objects on the floor, waiting for 017 to react and sprinting past it while it is busy. I know, that it simplifies concept of 017, but IMHO this might work.

It would be a terrifying idea if implemented properly, but that's the problem - it looks very difficult to implement (considering 017 is somewhat of a shadow himself). I am for the idea of more scripted events overall though.

Agreed. Subtle in-jokes like that would be nice to see more of in the game. The best thing is that they're just that, subtle. So it doesn't have to break the atmosphere of the game for the "general audience". As another suggestion, IIRC someone mentioned adding an ukulele angled at the side of a desk in an office room, another little reference which would be nice to see.

Also, if I may say, I don't think there's an SCP that really embodies the "seemingly harmless but will fucking annihilate you" type in-game. Sure, there's 1025, but I don't think it really embraces it and only sometimes kills you. As a proposal, I present to you: Nibbles. Maybe he could be in a room where his cage could be found, and as you enter the lights suddenly become brighter, by 079 perhaps (at least to make him appear more imposing, he's not doing a very good job ATM and maybe add digitized laughter). Then maybe 1616 could randomly eat something on you if stay in there for a while, like say a leg, or an eyeball like in the test log (just without the "seeing it all happen", as it would difficult implement), or your arm, varying on different encounter each time you start up the game.

How cool would it be if you played as SCP-106? Just wondering. It could expand some puzzles, such as taking a picture of a lever or button you cannot reach, then switching it, although breaking the button/lever, making whatever you did permanent, so if you mess up, your fricken screwed. :laugh: Also maybe doing things through security cameras. I don't know.

It'd be weird to meet SCP-106 in the actual game, but it would be fun to play as in some sort of extra thing. Maybe someone could make a mod of it. I don't care. I just don't know how to mod myself, which is why I give suggestions, not sneak peaks of what I'm making.

My estimate:

Chance it will just be a mystery: 97%
Chance something else will happen: 1%

I can't imagine that idea being successfully implemented into SCP CB. But I can imagine it as its own game. It would be loads of fun to play as 106! At the beginning of the game, 106 breaks out of his containment chamber and the player would be able to freely stalk and kill doctors, guards, and D class personnel. But after a certain amount of time, the mtf would show up and the player would have to use actual strategies with their rotty powers in order to kill or escape from them.

From what i gather from Your post seaal, i believe the SCP your referring to is SCP-105
