I think maybe introducing some new mechanisms such as the blinking and a few more.
Blinking / Holding the Spacebar: If you encounter 096 in the lockroom or the server room then it will say "Hold the Spacebar to close your eyes."
Moving / Cranking Levers: If you encounter 914 or go to somewhere like 106 (something that has levers) then it will say "Left click and hold then move your mouse up or Down to move a lever" For 914 it would say the same but instead of Up and Down Left and right.
As for my suggestion, I find the crouch button useless. I think hiding would be good like under desk for 106 as it says it hunts the player. It doesn't mention it knows where you are. I'm pretty sure this won't make it because of B3D but I'll hear from you pros.

#2May someone please move this sorry for double post but I didn't notice what section it was.
Re: Introductions to Mechanisms and Suggestion
#3about holding spacebar: wouldnt it be too boring to be able to close your eyes? it would be too easy to avoid 096.
about the hiding thing: i also dont think that its possible in b3d. also, there are not much hiding spots in scp:cb

Re: Introductions to Mechanisms and Suggestion
#4I think most ofthe tutorial like aspects should be limited to the intro sequence, since that's when the game holds your hand the most. From then on, you should use your wits to keep you safe and on the move.
Perhaps en-route to SCP-173's chamber, a scientist shouts "Seeing 173? Don't forget to blink!" and the message "Press SPACE to blink" appears.

It slep time bunner.
Re: Introductions to Mechanisms and Suggestion
#5Actually, the crouching mechanic is supposed to function as a hiding mechanic, but that only works with the MTFs, not with 106. Would be interesting to see.ApplePiah wrote:As for my suggestion, I find the crouch button useless. I think hiding would be good like under desk for 106 as it says it hunts the player. Do you think NASA invented thunderstorms to cover up the sound of space battles?
Re: Introductions to Mechanisms and Suggestion
#6The "this is not possible on the old blitz3d" mindset has gotten too deep into some people, it's completely possible, a lot of things are, so you can suggest away without thinking about the capabilities of the engine.ApplePiah wrote: I'm pretty sure this won't make it because of B3D but I'll hear from you pros.

#7I don't understand how people get this misconception that B3D can't do anything decent.Irontaco wrote: The "this is not possible on the old blitz3d" mindset has gotten too deep into some people, it's completely possible, a lot of things are, so you can suggest away without thinking about the capabilities of the engine.

Re: Introductions to Mechanisms and Suggestion
#8If there's a tutorial button or practice mode or something, perhaps... in the actual game, probably not. It's nicer and scarier to not know immediately what to do with the keys and stuff. As for the crouch, well, it does feel a bit unnecessary, but maybe a few barricades scattered around the facility could fix that (I think).

#9You can use desks in offices as barricades, that actually works. The MTFs don't see you then.autotroph wrote:maybe a few barricades scattered around the facility could fix that (I think).

#10I was about to repost to make it MTF but since you guys said it first then we can all agree it's MTF.
