As Xander said on that very thread, the touch-ups (including his dong) aren't really canon to the original 173 article. Although there is no real canon to the Foundation, what 173 has as his article picture is how he is going to be portrayed.

On the flipside, however, there are some definite inconsistencies between the actual model and the picture. Mainly the size and shape of the head. However I honestly prefer 173 without his action-figure-esque neck and oddly shaped head, it looks much more 'alive' imo, like an actual creature. But then again, he IS a statue.

The gmod version of the model is as close as you're going to get with accuracy to the pic. I do like the recoloring though, he looks much better already.

The recolor is definitely a step in the right direction. Every improvement in the model has been a step further from canon, and with the possible photo realistic model we can be ULTRA CANONAAAHHH. I never said we should include the pen0r though, but the green buttcrack is visible in the photo.

I agree with Omniary here. Although our model is not identical to the original image, it feels very natural to me in its current form. I played around with the texture to add the green streak up his back, but something about the resulting 173 seemed like a step in the wrong direction. I think I will leave it with just a slight darkening of that area for now, as it is noticeably darker in the original image, and give it another look in the future if it still doesn't feel right.

What's funny is that I am planning on making a short film/live-action trailer thing off of the game and SCP wiki. I am planning on building a legit replica of SCP-173, with a movable head and all that jazz... haha :)
