If you ever played any Half life game you will see what we're trying to explain, the fact that your character could speak would be really anti-atmospheric. And it isn't for RPGs only, there's quite a few first person view games where the main characters didn't say anything.

I don't really think that the character swearing everytime a SCP popped up would be any good.

[Enable Player voice Actor] and [Enable Player Sound effects]. Oh and hi i'm new to the forums
That's a pretty good Idea....And welcome to the Forums. :)
My name is John...Yes you can call me that...Yes it's a bland name, but it gets the job done.

I have played Half-life before...and I know what you're trying to say, I'm saying that ME MYSELF does not like silent ones.

And it isn't every time he sees one, it would be a once in a while thing, he would rarely speak, mabye you'd hear a word or two once every playthrough.

But I like the vagueness to the character, it really does make me feel immersed to a point. Hearing someone of other age, gender, descent, etc speak would make it feel like an actual character, and less like me.
It slep time bunner.

I too am more of a fan of a silent character, it allows the player to superimpose themselves onto the character and to better immerse themselves into the game.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a player character that talks, but I think that in SCP:CB's case a silent main character is beneficial.

I am okay with talking characters in many genders of games, but I do preffer silent characters in horror games.
That are on First Person, that is.
Uhm. Yeah, can't come up with anything.

When you're running, you should atleast breathe heavily, and when you're injured, you should make a moaning sound... or something.
The player just being completely silent during every action is just weird. And please don't reference about the player being mute, that's kinda cliché and may make it look like the devs are lazy.

I'd like to see some hands. I agree with Ominary about the voice though; the character would kind of break the mood.

Panting sounds OK... a little alluding to Slender, but still. Screams, in my eyes, are cliche, and would break the mood as well. Still, my favorite is the hands. No floating body please.
