Instead of guns, how about grenades and melee weapons?

Alot of people have been suggesting guns to be added in scp: containment breach, and the devs answer to that is no, while i do agree that guns should not be added to a game like scp: containment breach, i feel that there should be some items to help the player deal with 049's minions, MTF soldiers, and anything else that isn't an invincible superbeing, so how about grenades and melee weapons? :!:

How the melee weapons work: the melee weapons should work like the ones used in condemned & penumbra overture, melee weapons should be found next to some guard corpses and rooms that require a high level keycard, melee weapons come in two different forms (blunt & sharp) and two different sizes (small & large), blunt melee weapons can be used to knock out MTF soldiers and sharp melee weapons can be used to kill MTF soldiers, small melee weapons should take a couple hits before breaking and becoming useless to the player and large ones take a few hits to break (they can be refined by SCP-914 to last longer).

There should be two types of grenades (flash and smoke), flashbang grenades can blind MTF soldiers for 10 seconds, they can be also be refined by SCP-914 to produce a stronger flash that will effect :096: & :106:, smoke grenades emit a cloud of smoke that is similar to the black smoke that cause the player to blink faster if hes not wearing a gasmask, the cloud could last for 20 seconds (more if refined by SCP-914), they can also be refined to be deadly to MTF soldiers.

Tell me what you think about these ideas. :)

Personally, I don't think that there should be any kind of Weapon in SCP : Containment Breach.

It would take away the Survival Horror Aspect and go down the route that Resident Evil did. As for Penumbra, They only had melee objects in Overture. Once they gained feedback, They removed all weapons while developing Black Plague. To date, Black Plague was the highest rated Penumbra Game.

I believe the Game should be more of a " Get out while you still can " rather than " Get out and beat up Soldiers as you go along ".

Flashbangs could be potentially useful. The MTF are not affected by Smoke by the Player but the Flashbangs could possibly have a useful impact on them. I can imagine them attempting to communicate while their vision regains.

So in my opinion.

Melee Weapons - I don't think they would work well with the Game.

Flashbangs - The better of the two suggestions. Could come useful in a more Stealth / Evasive style.

Anything that could directly harm the enemies should not exist in the game. The point of the game is for you to hide and run, not to kill the enemies.

Like Firefox said, think about penumbra, when you find out you can kill the dogs, the game isn't scary anymore, but on Black Plague, since you can't kill the monsters, it is infinitely more scary.

So bottom line is, no weapons, at all. Maybe the flash grenades, but no guns, nor melee weapons.

I don't want any sort of weapons in this game. It would be too easy to play if there were weapons.

But I would like to remind everybody that the point of a survival horror is to be scared AND to survive. Fighting or killing things that endanger you does count as survival. ;) In reality, quite a few people would wish to arm themselves in a situation where scary or dangerous things confront them.

Again, I am against putting weapons in this game. And I am aware that one of the best ways to survive is to run from dangers. I just wanted to remind people that fighting can count as survival.

The official stance is no weapons whatsoever. Personally, i'm not in agreement, but that's not the point.

There will be no weapons. Ever. Until mods come out, which hopefully they will.

In fact, Steelpoint made an official thread that stores the weapon debate, so...

The only "weapon" I've ever supported being added to the game is the flash grenade, for the purpose of evading the MTF and sending SCP-106 back to his pocket dimension. They should be few in number throughout the game, force you to shut your eyes if you see the detonation, and deal no damage whatsoever (so they can't be used to "kill" or "KO" MTF units). Unlike a gun, I can't imagine feeling empowered by having a single flashbang grenade. Other than that, no weapons.
