Taking into consideration everything that has been discussed in this thread, I think it would be better to start a new game from scratch instead of trying to fix this one. While being in an acceptable level on its time, the game has several flaws in the present. Whether the programming, the outdated engine, or what the concept came to be after years of development.

Awesomeguy has mentioned something which I think is true.
Awesomeguy147 wrote:Sure, it was a neat little experiment while it lasted, but despite 4 years, Regalis never figured out how to build upon it.
This is something that has really bothered me since the update where 682 made its first and only appearance. "Where's this game going?" "How is it going to be in the future?" I wondered. There where lots of ideas and speculation about this topic, but none of them became true. What we saw is that Containment Breach was getting more and more of the same thing in each update, SCPs to observe or decorate the environment. That was a good spot to start in my opinion, but not to be developed to that point. How many years have passed since Containment Breach was released? 4. How much has been developed the concept behind the game in these 4 years? I don't know, but if it has been developed I barely noticed it.

Please keep in mind that I'm not despising the work of anyone at all. I just think that the focus of this work was pointing to the wrong direction.

SCP Number: SCP-134
SCP Nickname: Stella
Ingame mechanics: She could be in her cell waiting to be rescued. It could add some challenge to help her getting out, or bringing her to a "safer" place. As she is blind, the player could help her walk around or carry her, getting more vulnerable to other SCPs attacks.

A. Walk into room.
B. Witness some visual event.
C. Die or walk away.

They serve no purpose and therefore add nothing to gameplay. Diversity is out of the question when they all follow the same basic principle of "find X, witness Y, continue on your marry way". And no, adding an item in its containment chamber (012/372) doesn't justify an SCP's purpose in the game.

At this point the game should just be renamed to "Containment Breach Simulator 2016" because it's more interested in demonstrating SCPs rather than being a game.
Except the whole point of the game was the 'showcase interesting SCPs within the game during a crisis situation' which is exactly what it does. If you remove all the 'useless' ones we are left with all the 'chase and kill you' SCPs, the PC, medicine and the Mask which is hardly a good game either.

Not every SCP has to be this huge ground breaking, life changing event. Many indie games are experiences that become less enjoyable with every subsequent playthrough. and any Videogame deathtrap is avoided after it has been triggered once. I dont see why this game should be held to some sort higher standard.. Either way this isn't where we discuss such things.
no you should not go back to the game v0.1
