I just tried downloading this game again, and I can't for the life of me get it to work. I've tried all the hotfixes (compatibility mode, running as administrator, no bumpmapping, running both in and out of fullscreen, and disabling the launcher) to no avail.

My issue is the game launches correctly, and allows me to navigate the main menu perfectly fine, and even launches into a new game fine. With the intro sequence enabled, I can see my character get out of bed, and for approximately one second, I am free to look around, but if I look over towards the paper on the desk, or if I move, instant MAV. I've tried redownloading the entire game, tried unzipping it with multiple programs, all with no avail, the same issue continues to happen (or worse, depending on the unzipper used)

Any help to be offered?

What Windows version are you using?
Also, check your antivirus program's "virus chest" or tell it to ignore/not scan the game's directory.
Have you also tried unchecking the "read only" tick mark for the folder where the game is enclosed?
