Err, I don't know where you are getting your sources but EA has never shut down a games servers when a squeal has been released, the only cases where I can think of EA shutting down servers is when almost no one is actually playing the games multiplayer component, and they do give advance notice.

You can still play older titles such as BF2 and BF2142, though those servers are fan ones.
