The Tumblr bronies have decided to secede from the fandom, apparently because they don't want to be associated with the clop and grimdark crowd. Yes, because Tumblr is completely devoid of any of that material. This 'new' fandom, supposedly titled "the Equestrians" (how original), will be pretty much exactly the same as the old one, only righteous, pure in heart and a million times as humble as thou art.

While this is a dunderheaded plan and will most likely cause more problems than it solves, what are your thoughts on it? Do you think the fandom should be split into self-sufficient cadres, or if the community is even large enough to warrant such a schism? More importantly, does anyone even care? After all, in the words of Abraham Lincoln; "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

.....yeah, that's not going to last long at all. Unless they somehow convince thousands of people that the art and fanfics they look at suck and shouldn't be allowed in the fandom, this idea isn't gonna be taking off anytime soon.

Either way this isn't going to have an effect on any of us or the rest of the fandom.

It seems that enough people elsewhere consider it to be an impractical waste of time and effort, so luckily it won't gain enough momentum to have any real effect. Remember, this originated on Tumblr; the place where hopes and dreams go to die.

Even Tirek thinks the whole thing is ridiculous.
