I've seen some people Online defending that game to the death, even saying All Stars Racing Transformed doesn't deserve the few Remixes of that games soundtrack as its "so insuperior to Sonic R". Really is one of the worst Sonic games IMO. Don't know how anyone can be scared of that damn Tails Doll either.

And Zarpox reminded me, I recently bought the first Jak and Daxter a while ago, still haven't played it yet.

Thanks ;D I have every single game from that series originally in my shelf. I make the other post very short but that game series means allot for me. So much good memories and not just from the games...
More than 10 years ago since i first played it
That means a very very long story. But now too much to post it...

Instead for now just some other stuff first:
-Should i ask why did you bought it ? (do not misunderstand.. i know the problem with buy a game and not playing it... thats strange)
I will not force you to play it but if you have not played it then you maybe not going to like the game or? Sometimes it goes like this and other times the right time must come to play it. I don't know....
-Still use a PS2? Thats very cool. Good console if not the best.
I mean it is good that you bought the first one originally ;D But I have heard that the HD Collection is not bad. It contains the Trilogy.

Bought it as its the only Series of the three PS2 Mascots I haven't yet played. Haven't played it yet as I just haven't had time due to my College Course.

Technically I actually don't use my PS2 anymore as I have one of the PS1/2 compatible PS3's. A couple of games don't seem to work correctly though, Burnout 2 has missing textures on Car Lights and Windshields, Ratchet and Clank 1-3 lag if you stand a certain direction in levels and Medievil 2 occasionally lags too, however pausing and unpausing sorts that game out. I'm not sure how Jak 1 will play, especially since Ratchet 1-3 used a modified version of the game engine, it could lag too.

I avoid "HD" collections, most of them are terrible ports with masses of problems, especially what happened to Ratchet and Silent Hill.

One of my favorites was Star Wars: Battlefront II. I loved the space battles. I also loved Midtown Madness 2, Burnout 2... Yeah, there were a lot of 2's I liked. My most favorite racing game had to be NFS: Porsche Unleashed. My favorite PS2 racing game was probably MX vs. ATV Unleashed. I couldn't say how many hours (Days?) I put into that game. I'll stop talking before I get overwhelmed with nostalgia @.@

Star Wars Dark Forces (All of them.) was one of my favorite games, and then there's Clive Barker Undying, some Tomb Raider 1, 2, and 4, haven't played three yet since i have a fear of snakes, Call of Duty 1 and the United Offensive XpanPack (Rest of them just plain boring with the health regen and all.)

Ofcourse, there's Half-Life and Counter-Strike 1.6, i just hate some people where they use the Q (Last weapon used) button twice when shooting the AWP so that the cocking animations went faster.

The Doom series also got my vote.

Oh ok then. I hope you will have fun with it. (is this thread for actually talk about the games ? ;D) I recently saw your profile and you wait for The Last of Us (that is now out, lol) and it is from Naughty Dog but i think you know that already that they made Uncharted and before that Jak and Daxter and before that the Crash series. So kinda cool to look what they made before. (i played Uncharted 1 but i think i had a wrong attitude i don't liked it much....)
I must say sorry but I have not really played the other PS2 Mascots. I mean I say Jak and Daxter is awesome but when you going to play it I feel like i must play the others too. I have only Ratched and Clank 3 (what is kinda stupid but i don't know why (long time ago))Multiplayer is still awesome and Size Matters. And I saw and played some Sly Cooper but i don't really get into the series. Not that i don't like it (it looks really awesome but i don't know, never really come to play it).
Sly and Ratched got some good games even today. It can be good that a series not die and continue but sometimes it is just to make more profit so long that the series get worse and worse. So Jak and Daxter is the only series that get not continued so much.... I mean some people like the first one the most. It is with every series that some say that the continuations are bad and the original one is the best.. hard to tell. I will not spoil anything to you but when you going to play Jak 2 and Jak 3... i don't know :D.
MOV_Games wrote:I avoid "HD" collections, most of them are terrible ports with masses of problems, especially what happened to Ratchet and Silent Hill.
I was going to write that under my other post. Because i will not sound like someone who find the "HD" thing so good and say something like "HD is the best and without it the graphic sucks" and stuff like that. But i think it is more an downgrade. Better graphic and sharp "HD" thingies... It was good to play PS2 on a tube screen but the first time with a PS3... without a "HD" TV and without an HDMI cable after that was just stupid. You cannot see what is supposed to stand there. The words are just to small...
But i am ok with both now. The things today are good and the old ones too.

So an "HD" is sometimes good to look at older games you haven't played yet in "HD crap remake stuff like when you make a 2D movie in 3D". It is not all bad i think... i missed ICO and Shadow of the Colossus and i bought the collection. That was really really Epic :sob:
A longer time ago i got into Silent Hill and wanted to catch up the good old ones. (The first one I've ever played was Silent Hill Shattered Memories and i will never forget it... still to new for this thread) after that i played original one and i heard Shattered Memories is kinda based on it.... just wow. I love Silent Hill.
But you gonna hate me for this (but i informed me I've heard that the collection sucks) I bought the "HD" collection to catch up with the good ones (I've heard Silent Hill 2 is best.. so)I bought it for Xbox and at the same time Downpour for PS3 to have every time one (when my brother need the PS3 or something like that). I played now all Silent Hills expect of 4, 5 and Play Novel and the "new" on the PS Vita.... Sad what happend to the collection....
That shows that sometimes making money or just being lazy and shit makes a bad "HD" collection for those who haven't played the original and wanted to catch up and then find the game bad.

But when the "HD" have problems and you play the original ones with "modified versions" is it in the end not the same with the lags and all that technical issues ?

[insert Zarpox's big ass post]
Right, where to begin?

With Silent Hill, I actually haven't played any of them yet, though i'm currently after the first three games.

With Sly Cooper, although the series isn't too high on my greatest platformers list, its still a pretty great series (2 is the best IMO). Also, going by Sly 4 its the only series of the PS2 trio which doesn't completely suck now.

With The Last of Us, I was actually kind of hesitant lately as I thought all this hype would result in the game being underwhelming, although for what I've seen at least the story is excellent. I don't have the Hard Drive space at the moment though, I only have a Gen 1 60G PS3.

With Ratchet and Clank, well, you know how we have that one game series that you have a connection with and love more than all of the others? Ratchet and Clank is mine. Especially the first game. Since 2002 I must have played through that game at least 25 times. I've remembered the levels so well I can actually do one or two of them Blindfolded. I know how many of a certain type of enemy there is in a level etc.

I have a couple of problems with the series at the moment though. The first is that i'm bored to death with the Polaris Galaxy that has appeared in the last 5 games. Let us see Solana or Bogon again. The second is that to be honest after the first game it turned into more of a shooter than a platformer. Tools of Destruction brought back some of the Platforming, but after Quest For Booty it was mostly lost again.

My final problem is the Music. To me, the first three games soundtrack made with all the Electronic beats mixed with Digital Orchestra samples were much more memorable and just better than the newer games choice to go with plain Orchestral music.

Don't have time to add any more at the moment.

Yes. Also, the original for a 2001 game had AMAZING graphics, looking at it now it's still very smooth. Naughty Dog's mocap studio also buys realism for their newer games.

I don't like the type of comedy used in the 4th. I liked Sucker-Punch's vision much better. I just think the devs took a spin in the wrong direction for interaction between characters.

Wait for the ending. It's actually one that (kinda) makes sense, and is... unexpected.

O rly?
Up Your Arsenal was the best.
I've never owned Deadlocked.

In all of these games, Smash! T.V. happens to be the best. Not Super Smash! T.V., the NES port, but the original one. I had Midway Classics Collection for PS2, and have all those games on a MAME setup. Unfortunately, Midway went broke and was bought by Warner Brothers. Hence came forth Mortal Kombat Vs. DC, but then MK9 came out, and they redeemed themselves.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles shouldn't of been messed with, I know that the zones were out of order because they ran out of time, but because it was once planned doesn't mean it would still be the best route. I actually looked at the "correct" level listings and prefer the current listings. Although the best hack I've seen on a Sonic ROM was Genocide City, named that because the Jap devs didn't know what Genocide meant, and used it on accident. Dat Casino Night 2-player music used in it is amazing. I love all of Sonic 3's soundtrack. Michael Jackson worked on it, but they took him out of the credits because he was accused for Child Molestation, and they didn't want him being mentioned in a kid's game. Also for the win is the old McDonald's sonic toys from the 80's. So much win...

The classic games I grew up with were mostly strategy games on the PC. My childhood was made by all of Blizzard Entertainment's old games; Warcraft 2 & 3, Starcraft, Diablo 1 & 2... While the sequels are very good in their own right, they will never capture the classic feel of the old ones (That's not just the nostalgia either, they were super-awesome games. Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 I still play to this day).

Apart from Blizzard titles, there's Age of Empires, Civilization, Heroes of Might & Magic, Dawn of War, and others too numerous to list. I remember playing all of these extensively with my brothers. All in all, good times.
