NO! NO OC!Destructoid wrote:BTW that disgusting blue stringy stuff is supposed to be her mane. BTW if you're drawing pone, make sure to have your own OC.
Re: Any one have any experience with selling art?
#12Wat. Well, if you plan on continuing pone, an OC is a must have. If you plan on drawing a few ponies and stopping, then it's not really necessary.

#13Fine, MY OC will be a girl with an evil twin, have two different colored eyes, be loved by all the main characters and her face will be ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)Destructoid wrote:Wat. Re: Any one have any experience with selling art?
#14$15/hour is actually a very reasonable price! Especially if you're doing things traditionally, which sounds like you are. Partial upfront payment is also a very good idea as well.A Hideous Beast wrote:Interesting...
I was planning on doing fan art for people (I'm currently working on Ponies, and I'm not a brony.) my own original ideas, and what ever else people want.
I was thinking that if I need to buy some supplies that I don't have then I'll have the person pay a portion upfront, which will be double the amount of what I had to buy, half of it towards the thing I need, and the other half towards the full price of the piece.
I asked my Dad and he suggested $15 an hour, sound good?
I'm still interested in seeing your stuff btw! If you have a deviantART or some kind of gallery I'd really like to see!
Destuctoid: I don't remember hearing anything about an artist having a pony OC if they want to draw ponies 8Tc Most artists have one yeah but I didn't know it's become... pony artist law or something???
Re: Any one have any experience with selling art?
#15It's pretty much the law of the land. It's especially important to artist who do art trades, or want to have a seperate pone identity. Like atryl's beach ball anthro pone.

Re: Any one have any experience with selling art?
#18I am also thinking about selling my work, but I have your same doubt, though I have been told you should see your net gain from the picture and the time you spend on it/resources and experience, also the quality of your product should be in mind when setting a price.A Hideous Beast wrote:First off, I am not advertising myself, I don't know what the rule is on advertising on this forum, but if this Art thing works for me and you guys don't approve of advertising then I won't do it.
Any way.
For a while now I've been seriously considering taking commissions and selling them for profit, my problem is that I am unsure of how to charge my pieces, should I do it based on time/size/ and materials? Does any one have any experience in this area?
Inspiration is our best weapon.
