Actually, is there a writer for the backstory? I'd like to help out with writing and such if such a job exists from before.

Eh, I don't think the mod should be build from scratch, but rather revised.
You could start with a fresh 0.8.1, then slowly build on with previous content, revising and updating it.

I did, but In my version I changed the story radically because I was sick of seeing quick fixes and zombies in this mod. So as a result things like the LTF aren't in it anymore (unless there's a good reason to refer to them as such)

As I mentioned earlier I made a quick rather minimalistic story for the SCP-Foundation containing ponies on a specialized site, this way they don't all need individual explanations. I never thought about bringing on writers because I never thought anyone was going to take my version seriously.
