This makes the game basically impossible to play for me since I can't just save at any time and reload my save if I die for whatever reason. I already tried a lot of the recommended things to stop memory access violations but nothing is helping. Does ANYONE know how to fix?

Install Win 7

Alternatively, right-click the executable, go to Properties, go to the Compatibility tab and set compatibility for Windows 7 and run as administrator.

If that doesn't help, go to the Properties of the save folder and make it non-read only.
