The gregorian calender was put in place by the pope, a man who is not allowed to believe in other religions, and it was built on the julian calender which was put in place by Julius Ceasar in 46BC and 45BC, over 1000 years before they knew about something called mayans.

So here's the plan: We will simply skip past 21st of December, with this change, either the apocalypse won't happen, because we skipped the day it was due to arrive, or the apocalypse can happen anyway on the 22nd, which while it may kill us all, all the 21st December dooms day theory's are at least proved wrong.
