Re: Suggestions on the difficulty system
#4I'm not sure how to say it but the difficulty needs to be sorted out into play for the experience of the scare and play for the challenge of the enemies, since it's suppose to be a horror game the main idea should be to get scared not AVOID DYING
But I like this idea in general except I believe 096 isn't really a problem at all, replace 096 with less chance of 106 appearing/easier containment of 106, and 096 becoming easier to provoke as difficulty goes up and this will become a key feature to the game. Thumbs up!

Re: Suggestions on the difficulty system
#5I like it except for one thing. 096 has to appear in every difficulty. I know it makes the game harder but ALL the SCPs make the game hard. So in order for it to work, 096 has to spawn in every difficulty and destroy/open doors in every difficulty. Whats the point of having him if he can only do stuff on the hardest difficulty, and before you say that it makes the game too hard, thats the point of the game, to fuck with you.
Aside from that, its a good idea.

#6SCP-096 isn't really that difficult, you just don't look at him, just like 895's live feed.
I might agree with it if he could be found in different places like in the offices, and maybe be freely roaming, but right now he gets his unique room with a ambiance that sounds like a bleating goat, he's quite easy to avoid.

Re: Suggestions on the difficulty system
#7This idea.
Although, 'safe' sounds so weak.. we need to have like subtext at the bottom of each difficulty or something from the old SCP-WIKI descriptions of safe, euclid, keter, etc:
Safe: "A gun or automobile can be considered 'safe', although they are still capable of killing something."
Euclid: "Euclid can be considered like a wild animal and is highly unpredictable in it's exposure to material."
Keter: "Keter can be considered a grenade with the pin removed."
Although a thing on 096; even viewing his face for a second is an instant death sentence; It's now impossible for you to beat the game until he kills you and you reload your save.
I intended for his sprinting animation to be too fast for you to escape even a few rooms away before you die.

Re: Suggestions on the difficulty system
#8Right now his AI pathfinding is still buggy (hence you can oftentimes get away because 096 gets stuck against a wall or something). It actually should take around 30 seconds to a minute for him to catch up to you and kill you. Top tier equipment is also easy to get right now due to the easy objectives of finding a Level 2 keycard and upgrading it in 914 to Level-5 or Omni.Elantis wrote: How is it impossible to complete the game without being killed by him? o.o
An overwhelming majority of the time I have already found the Machine and have Top tier equipment and not only that, I'm usually right around the corner from either gates A and or B.
*Fun fact* Did you know that 096 can pry elevator doors open elevators and kill you before you reach the top of the gates?
Re: Suggestions on the difficulty system
#9I've avoided him in my last few playthroughs, is he now faster than D-9341 sprinting? Because if he's not you could use a VF/F gas mask to sprint away ahead of him.Mirocaine wrote:Right now his AI pathfinding is still buggy (hence you can oftentimes get away because 096 gets stuck against a wall or something). I am officially SCP-426. I am a toaster, and people refer to me in first person. This memetic quality is one of my best traits!
