SUGGESTION: Randomize certain 914 outputs.

#1
I think I can say with certainty that when most people find SCP-914 ingame they will put in both their key card, S-NAV and other equipment go for Very Fine to get access to some of the best equipment ingame.

I propose that the outputs of items on higher settings be heavily more randomized to put a certain "risk" in sacrificing your equipment. You may get an awesome radar, or some useless gadget that is 200 years ahead of its time and serves no present day use.

For example

1:1
%100 of changing to similar item.

Fine
%50 of changing to similar item
%50 of changing to slightly better item.

Very Fine
%25 of destroying/downgrading item.
%25 of making useless item.
%25 of making great item that breaks.
%25 of making great item that works.

Or something similar.

I would love this, as it makes 914 more canon. But very fine should never downgrade or break an item directly, as it goes against the 914 working principle(refining the item to the selected setting). I think that the 25% asigned to it whould be "objects that will kill/harm you when used"
God is perfect -> Nobody is perfect -> I'm nobody --> I'm perfect --> I'm God.

I like it, except for the chance of it being a bad item, or it being useless. Very fine means that the output will be a better thing than the input, so making it being worse just makes it similar to coarse. The item being useless should be only be like you said. A futuristic item that serves no purpose for what you need it.

Game-changing events that the player has no control over are a general no. Imagine how it would be if you're working on getting a high-level keycard and it just breaks it, and if thats the only keycard in the map *cough*Mastercard*cough*. All the logic paths for what makes what on what setting, plus all the outcomes, would take up more space than its worth. Unless there was a way around the chance of useless items, which would be time-consuming in-game no matter what, I don't support this idea.

Well, looking at 096 is a game changing event in which you have no control.

The way it should work, should be like, if it comes out something like the futuristic device that can't be used, then put it on coarse to revert it, this way you can try again. If not, just do a quick save before using the machine.

Remember, most of the game will bend you over and fuck you. This isn't as different as other SCPs.
