I don't think it was the writers fault. I think hasbro wants to sell more toys.....Which is.....Understandable. That's one of their main sources of income.
But....Really? Alicorn Twilight?

Well I will leave the speculation and stuff to people more versed in MLP lore and the such. But I still say that this seems more like an Act of God thing with suddenly pulling this out of thin air, has this kind of power/event ever referenced prior or hinted at? If not than I maintain that this whole situation is some quick way to give her some wings.

If Hasbro wants to sell toys, the character the toy is made to be like just needs to feature in 1 episode actually, then it will be canon enough to make the making of the toy ok.
I don't think they will leave her as an alicorn, and in case they do, it will probably be with lower magic abilities.

Added, and also I'll be telling you the easter eggs (it's a easter egg spoiler, do not read unless you wanna know how to get them, copy and paster to see)


1. MLP Hoodies: At the start of the game, there will be two doors open (out of your apartment) two have a TV but only one works, the working one will play the MLP theme and you will unlock all the MLP hoodies

2. Party Cannon: You have to beat the game with Pinkie Pie Hoodie, then at the same room of the first easter egg there will be a rocket launcher, pick it up and it will be the Party Cannon, with 5 rockets and unlimited ammo.
