YAY! I'm not the only person here who played Zone of the Enders!
Yes, that game, was quite nice.

The difference is, that mech is filled with lazers of deadly death, has total mobility, and it can fly! That is something useful.

However, a mech that is a weak tank, but has a humanoid appearance is not as good as an actual tank.

The swords are pointless. You want fire power capable of destroying metal, not just some fancy katanas that will do nothing against enemy tanks.
Swords? Useless? You obviously never saw Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Take a sword like that (but bigger) and give it to an awesome durable mobile mech... Profit

what if it stepped on the tank?
First off you would need to get right next to the tank, which would give it sufficient time to aim and destroy the Mech. Even if you did get close enough your legs would need to be heavy enough to crush through the Tanks Armour, and that is no easy feat to do.

An good example is that a Modern Day British Tank spent over an hour being hit by over 50 RPG's while its tracks were wrecked. The tank and crew were eventually recovered alive and intact.

Yes, but we can use mechs for long range combat. A RPG in one shoulder and a Anti Air in other shoulder (lol crazy idea). Also they would excel at very rough terrain and infantry battles.

Do we have such swords in the present? No? We don't? Of course not!
