Needless to say, I don't intend or would never intend to put Regalis or anyone on the spot, but yeah, there's his answer. The only ambience tracks that are currently in the game are the 106, 1025 and 895 ones. The 106 and 1025 are used for 049 and 012 respectively, and they do actually fit quite well. I honestly don't know about the rest. Perhaps he just forgot or didn't get around to adding them, it looks like he intends to though.
I never wanted to put him "on the spot" or try to force him into anything either, but that's part of the pressure of being a game developer, to be able to say no when you think it's a bad idea. Thanks for the response, need to go play v7 now!

I've had a heck of a time getting this forum to even show up. Its been a nightmare. Anyway, I wanted to congratulate Slagar and Firefox since Ominary showed that Regalis plans to use the sounds in game. I've watched a few lets plays and wow, I actually heard the 106 theme for SCP 049 and I was amazed at how well it fits him. Let's Players I have watched seem to love the ambient sounds around the facility as well. I can't wait to see how the sound design develops from here.

I've made an Update to the Old Man Escape Music.

Hopefully, It should sound more like a Success Theme rather than another Chase Theme.

I'll have to say Firefox. I am impressed. Good job! :D

Stealth Music. Possibly hiding from MTFs or some other Threat.

Warning. Bass Heavy. I sampled a Heart Beat for the Effects and part of the Main Bass Line.

EDIT -

At the request of Supreme [ BOATMAN ], I've added in Higher Pitched Sounds. Mainly Strings and a slight Synth Effect.

What do you all think?

The Original or the Reprise?

So far, The Reprise has had the most Positive Reaction. :)

If entering certain corridors enabled a different ambience, it would have to be slowly implemented as to silence any current music while descending into different musical themes. You don't want the music to be suddenly cut off from a note when going into a corridor, or tapping 'A' and 'D' whilst tripping off different musical scores between a border of two separate rooms, it would not immerse you if you noticed it, and it could even be comical which is the exact opposite of what you'd like to compose for the player.
Doors should block sound. Dynamic sound range, anything not rendered is not even considered.

Dr. Follis wrote:The current ambience of the game is still powerful, which is fantastic. I noticed a few minor sound effects had been placed in amongst certain events, such as noticing SCP-173 or doors opening/closing, it's good to see that any changes to the game aren't that drastic with sounds that work so well.

I actually did suggest that the background ambience be blended in gradually with the SCPs "theme" ambiance sounds. As if they flow into one another. However after talking to people on this thread and giving it more thought, I think that working with sound and making it effective for what you have invisioned is more complicated then it seems. For instance, in some areas, ambience sound is the right way to go to achieve the feeling of anxiety and horror while in other areas, complete silence can accomplish it better. Silence leans to the fear that you don't know what is coming and now you are on hyper alert to anything. I think working with the sound will be an ongoing project for the developer and the collaborators of the forum. We have to see what works and what doesn't and when its all said and done, Regalis gets the final say. Anyway, yeah I do agree with your idea Dr. Follis.

I prefer reprise, definitely. The strings, while subtle, really add to it. The only issue with them is that repetition like that drives me nuts, but I don't think it affects most people.

As for how this should be done, it seems obvious enough to me. The stuff here should be played over the main ambiance that's always player. The sound should fade in as the player approaches the room and fade away as the player leaves.

With permission to Bump [ And Double Post ].

New Sounds and Tracks -

Careful.

Some may be a bit Loud or High Pitched..

They are titled to what I imagined them be playing for. But that does not mean that they cannot be used for something else.

Regalis has my full permission to slice, edit or manipulate any of my Tracks and Sounds for SCP Containment Breach. If he decides to add them, Ha ha.
