This is becoming quite the thread!

Re: A Longtext of Ideas
#42I liked the old one better, simply because of conciseness! The intro needs to transition to the game as soon as possible.
"Yes, it's a goddamn nuke, but if 682 survives and adapts we'd be boned beyond belief."

Re: A Longtext of Ideas
#44I'll stop pitching in dialogue ideas for now, but how would the actual intro be? What I'd like is a conversation with a blurry image of 990 standing in the rain with an umbrella, and don't forget to keep the actual talk concise (30-45 sec max). Then transition to an alarm clock sound effect until D-9341 wakes up in his cell.

#45Fair enough - i've uploaded another one with the effects toned down.SCP 513 wrote:Very great job, Volgun. I thought I'd share it - who knows, maybe it'll do some good.
I agree with Juicy's post.

I disagree - the intro is skippable. If the players would like into the game as soon as possible all they need to do is skip it.scpharrisee wrote:I liked the old one better, simply because of conciseness! The intro needs to transition to the game as soon as possible.

#46I agree, but this doesn't necessarily mean a lengthy intro would be a good one. I for one find a short, concise intro the most mysterious, rather than a dragged out one. But I like the ideas thrown around so far!

Re: A Longtext of Ideas
#47I don't know, games with lengthy in depth intros are really memorable in my opinion. I mean, look at the half-life series, the Bioshock series, nearly all games with great immersive atmosphere, have lengthy intros. I for one, think a fantastic intro would immerse players better.scpharrisee wrote:I agree, but this doesn't necessarily mean a lengthy intro would be a good one. Re: A Longtext of Ideas
#48Fair enough, but a fantastic lengthy intro with 990 needs fantastic dialogue for 2+ min. It's a work in progress, but I prefer it shorter and more mysterious.Agent Shlocky wrote:I don't know, games with lengthy in depth intros are really memorable in my opinion. Re: A Longtext of Ideas [SCP-990 ADDITIONS]
#49Volgun. The 3rd test seems fair and good enough. I prefer the 3rd.
Re: A Longtext of Ideas
#50I like the intro the way it is now, don't get me wrong. But I would still love to see a well-made 990 dream sequence intro... As long as it isn't too long.
