Looks like Mirocaine and Capy got this covered, but just put on some music and model VERY BASIC things.
Use hotkeys and good modeling habits, then when you have to make decisions on complicated models, you can do it much easier.
Also, know your windows. Especially in Blender, the first thing I do when opening a new file is completely modify the windows. The
window layout is saved in the .Blend file, so you don't have to worry about resetting it.
The essence of creating something is selection then manipulation. You learn those two things, you will be successful.
Photoshop, Blender, and many other skills are just those two different actions.

#12I'm curious. What exactly do those two things mean?mrpeanut188 wrote:The essence of creating something is selection then manipulation.
Re: How does One Learn How to Model and Texture?
#13You got to take the base meshes blender can create for you and move/pull/grab them vertices in such a way to form almost anything, from hard-surface objects to people and creatures.

#14For Blender, it's what Mirocaine said. In Photoshop, it's learning what each and every tool is and does. Along with hotkeys. If you are modelling, learn the hotkeys for everything. See how long you can start modeling an object using hotkeys only, unless a mouse is required.Mirocaine wrote:You got to take the base meshes blender can create for you and move/pull/grab them vertices in such a way to form almost anything, from hard-surface objects to people and creatures.
Last tip, ALWAYS have pictures of whatever you are trying to create on the side, as a reference.

#15Don't forget ta whell. Remember, wheel zooms, clicking and holding wheel will rotate around object, and Shift+wheel will pan.mrpeanut188 wrote:For Blender, it's what Mirocaine said. #16Yes...Hotkeys play a pivotal role in any software and can speed up your workflow immensely if you use them frequently and wisely.
