The backstory of it can be played around with a lot. The main body of the mod that will (Or might) remain consistent is the material and model resources, those shouldn't be too badly affected. If you want to use a different story approach, that's fine. Hit us with your ideas, and we'll get something working.

It's rather minimalist...worked for Portal.

I think they mean like "Why do they turn hostile and plan to escape, attacking anybody in their way" like what gives them that mindset.
