They would split up in case Nightmare Moon is hiding somewhere.
And if there is trouble,they would alert each other for help.

I was also thinking maybe change 714. Doesn't the amulet corrupt with time or something?

It greatly boosts the wearers magic abilities, not sure if there were any other ideas for 714, but that one stuck.
The reduction of stamina thing was explained away by...Zecora casting a spell on it or something...

And how does this justify splitting up? If they split up and she attacks one of them then they can't do shit.

I think you are right...they can't do anything when they get attacked by Nightmare Moon.
