Since you don't seem to understand what a good control scheme is, I'll post a more suitable version here:
Spoiler
W: Up
S: Down
A: Left
D: Right
E: Use
Q/Left-Mouse Button: Light Attack
E/Right-Mouse Button: Heavy Attack(You don't need a medium attack)
R/Middle-Mouse: Mana Attack
C: Block
Ctrl: Crouch
Shift: Sprint(Notice how I only used ONE sprint function)
Tab: Inventory
Space: Jump
Up-Arrow: Inventory-Up
Down-Arrow: Inventory-Down
Left-Arrow: Inventory-Left
Right-Arrow: Inventory-Right
You don't need to include the capability of two players on the same keyboard. While it has been used before, it's uncommon and I always thought it was a silly idea. Just include LAN and online multiplayer. That'll solve the problem.

Code: Select all

Omniary: fuck you anglerfish can't smell
Dr. Trialtrex21: how you know bitch
Omniary: it probably could smell you though
could probably smell your fucking dank ass nasty powersuit structure gel trog ass enslaved protein bullshit sloshing in your suit from a mile away

I have used my second control scheme for my emulators. It's easy and comfortable to use, so I'm sticking to it. You may not understand just how easy it is until you try it. Have you tried changing the controls on an emulator to my control scheme?
Please, no more on my control scheme.

I didn't think so. I was just going to use Game Maker until I learned Java.
Also, I can help with graphics if you want,

Backgrounds, tilesets, NPCs, etc.
That'd be great! All my team has thus far is me, and two music composers (one for ambient themes, and the other for battle themes).

Key word: I

Just because it is comfortable for you, doesn't mean the same for others. Most people with "normal hands" use control schemes similar to what I have posted. The control scheme you presented is very foreign to me in some areas. You use far too many unnecessary functions that will be easy to forget, and their controls are very awkward. While I may be judging this harshly when I won't be able to test this control scheme until the game is finished, I can tell it's going to be tough for me, and most likely many others.

Plus, I might add that you said this was on an emulator, but you haven't even specified said emulator. Emulators have awkward control schemes, and aren't very close to the traditional PC. Emulators do one thing, and thats to emulate non-PC games for use on a computer. The games playable on these emulators aren't meant to be controlled with a keyboard, and thats why YOU end up creating these methods of controlling them.

When it comes to controlling a normal PC game, however, there is no need for so many control functions, nor do you need to spread the useable keys across the board. Players normally use a keyboard and mouse, and when you change that in these ways, they are going to get confused very quickly.

If you still choose to go with this, at least implement a custom controls system.

Just because you are comfortable with your scheme doesn't mean others can't suggest better ways of doing it. I'm trying to help you so people don't end up bashing the game for odd controls. If your game can't control well, then it's going to be hated.
