Of course if you smoke marijuana you'll end up getting lung or mouth cancer. But it's the same reason why you get cancer for smoking cigarettes. It's not the marijuana that's causing the cancer, it's the smoke you're inhaling. Marijuana has been proven to have cancer fighting properties and the only reason why people get cancer or bronchitis is because they chronically smoke weed to the point where their lungs are filled with all the tar the smoke creates. There have been cases of people getting cancer, but it's not the weed. Vaporizing marijuana actually prevents cancer (as far as my knowledge goes) though I've never actually used a vaporizer. I've used pipes, bongs, hookah's and joints.Steelpoint wrote:I should note that to date there a lot of debate into the long-term effects of smoking marijuana, and as I said on the old thread there is evidence to both support that Marijuana cause's harm to someone and that its effects are not that harmful. (Mainly in the development of the Brain). Also the argument that some celebrity used a drug, thus the drug must not be bad, is a dumb argument. As has been pointed out.
Arguing over the effects of the drug are, at least for us, an exercise in futility as many people have been doing research and arguments in this field for decades. All I will say is that I find the risk of smoking the drug to do harm to my body unacceptable, I also don't have any desire to take any form of drug.
I will leave this thread open for the time being, though I will lock it if the discussion strays too far off topic. Also if you are going to assert something on this thread you have to back it up with some sources.
Thank you.
There's a reason why weed is being legalized. And it's not just because people like how it feels. There's normal people who are skeptical about the drug that result to it due to life complications (anxiety, depression, insomnia, etc) and the drug has been proven to actually treat these things. And Steelpoint, it's very sad how you rely on the internet as your only source when I doubt you've ever even used marijuana, read the news, consulted professionals or even watched documentaries. And you fail to look at the positive aspects of marijuana when all you actually do is criticize it. What has weed ever done to YOU?
We all have our opinions on things. I can respect this. If Steelpoint or any other user here doesn't want to involve marijuana into their lives, that's totally acceptable and understandable. However, not only am I depressed, I'm suicidal. Without marijuana I couldn't say I'd be here. As pathetic as it sounds, it's my reality. I know however that it's illegal for me to do it due to my age and current location. I might just move to Colorado to avoid legal issues. I know that there's other things I need to do to support myself other than smoking marijuana. Although it'd probably be easier to move to a nearby medical marijuana state and have it prescribed to me for my depression.
