The monster is now added:

Pictures don't really do it justice, but it looks amazing in motion (I think I'll have to upload a little video of it at some point). I kept getting goosebumps watching it sprint behind the trees and appear from the fog. Big thanks to everyone who helped making this a reality!

The AI is also pretty much done, except that it can't get past curves in the path yet (it just walks directly at the player and gets stuck behind the trees if the player goes past a curve). Won't be hard to fix though, I'll just make it walk it towards an adjacent forest tile that is closest to the player.
FireFox wrote:Perhaps the Monster's eyes could appear glowing in the far distance within the Fog? Just within of the Player's blind spot. As soon as the Player turns to look at it or blinks, The glowing disappears. Could help as a build up until the Monster spawns. Not sure If this has already been suggested.
How it works now is that it keeps appearing outside the player's field of view, and sprints off when the player looks at it. Glowing eyes might be a good addition; I think I'll try adding a second, full-bright eye texture on it, it'd probably look better than just a sprite of the eyes.

Ohmygodohmygodaaah is this real. 860's come such a far way, seeing this makes me genuinely happy.

Also, I actually did make an eye texture for 860-2/the monster a while back (yes, you did just have déjà vu FireFox :087_2: ) [ http://i.imgur.com/KY4CME9.png ] Not sure if implementing it would be as easy depending on the available blend effects and the black background, but who knows, it could work with some minimal editing.
It slep time bunner.

I like the eyes! It could work with an alpha channel I guess, similar to SCP-106's eyes.
Do you think NASA invented thunderstorms to cover up the sound of space battles?

Thanks, I think I'll go with this. If I used it as a sprite like SCP-106's eyes it would be good to go, but I think I'll try to make an additional texture layer on top of the monster's current texture, so that the eyes can be shown even if the monster itself isn't completely hidden by the fog. Although, transparent textures always seem to be a pain in the ass to work with in blitz3d, so if it turns out too complicated to do, I'll just go with the lazy way and do it like I did SCP-106's eyes.

Man I cannot wait until this comes out, it will be stunning to see this creature in action. Does it have an animation of killing you or does it run into you and you die?
