Moving to XBOX

Maybe (MAYBE! VERY UNLIKELY, BUT MAYBE!) Regalis could look into creating an Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the game. It would help raise money for the game's development and would spread the game to a wider population. Would probably be an excellent idea... But it would probably not happen seeing as how the PC version isn't even out of development and has not been officially released.

Don't get your panties in a bunch and fuss at me for thinking outside of the box. I just personally think it would be a good way for the game to gain more popularity and attention. The only problem is that there is probably a whole complicated process that Regalis would have to go through to be able to convert the code into an XBOX-compatible one. Then, he would have to pay a fee to Microsoft to be able to add it to the Arcade. And many other questions come to my mind like will there be a recurring charge that is required to be paid for the game to stay up? Will everything be able to be coded right?

The idea has it's pros and cons, but the question is: what does everyone else think about this?

P.S. Every time I say XBOX, PS3 would be an option, too. I just think that since Microsoft made the XBOX that the code would be easier to make compatible

This won't be happening. Unless you can find someone willing to port over the entire programming of the game, it wont happen.

Code: Select all

Omniary: fuck you anglerfish can't smell
Dr. Trialtrex21: how you know bitch
Omniary: it probably could smell you though
could probably smell your fucking dank ass nasty powersuit structure gel trog ass enslaved protein bullshit sloshing in your suit from a mile away

As I said in the Dev topic yesterday, I have the tools, but not the ability. I do have Visual Studio 2012 and .XNA Framework with a free 2 year license, btu i have yet to download Visual Studio (Last time I tried, by brother cancelled the 12 hour download after 11 hours) or learn .XNA. So its possible, but highly unlikely time being. Especially not form Regalis, I'm pretty sure Visual and .XNA Framework are both pretty expensive, anyways.

EDIT: Just checked pricing on VS. Starting form 500-6000 dollars. Blitz3D is 60, I believe.

Okay...... First you need programming knowledge. I have this. So do many other people.
BUT, you need to learn XNA, a wierd language.
AND, you have to recode the engine (Not that hard.), but you have to add all the pathfinding, and tweaks and such.
AFTER THAT, you'd need to replace the models with something a little more high-poly. (Xbox uses really good culling.)
THEN, you need to pay thousands of dollars to bribe microsoft to put it on, and they still get like 70% of any sales.
And putting on an update costs I think 40k, might be 4k. But that is why a lot of indie games almost never update,
or are kept broken.

...or not?...

That would be a problem, too. As far as I know, you can't make your games free if you want to have them on the Game Marketplace. But on the Playstation Store, that's a whole different story, but I just think that it's not worth all the trouble that it weould cause to go to consoles. Maybe one day, I will figure out how to code games or something and make the game on consoles for Regalis, if he lets me ^_^.
