Creepypasta Thread

Discussion of current creepypastas. My opinion? They're getting worse and worse these days. Get back to the really scary pastas and add some feels! Anyways, I believe there are four different types of terrible pastas:
  • The Sixteen Paragraph Death
Kudos to Z-Bites for the name. Basically, it is a story in which a part involves many paragraphs describing one death. Guys, if he's dead, he's dead. There is no reason to describe it so gruesomely, and please remember that if it is TOO gruesome, it might sound very strange rather than scary.
  • "Lost Episodes"
This is just terrible. It's just a pasta about some episode of a famous television show that was never broadcast and and rather describes how the show goes the other way and suddenly everybody is dying for no apparent reason. Only a select few pastas actually break this cliche. One is called "Squidward's Suicide". At least there is a REASON as to why
Spoiler
he kills himself
but all other affects in the pasta are made to simply scare effectively. However, other "Lost Episodes" are basically just things like Sandy peeling off Sponge's skin for no reason. 'WHY?" he screams. Well, because the writer was retarded. That's why.
  • The Dot Series
Yes, the dot series. Things like .gif or .wmv or .dog. Really? .dog?? It's actually called Smile.Dog (Shet, this punctuation is annoying). Anyways, it's usually a photo of something that is supposed to be scary. However, it's just a photo.
Photos may cause psychological effects? Well, alright. Explain.
Sixteen paragraph death.
You, sir, are a terrible person and writer. Go to hell.
  • Gary Stu's
We all know exactly what this is. If you don't, it's basically an invincible character that is instantly hated in Creepypastas. Obvious example=Slenderman. Go in a forest and get killed by a creature that can't be stopped. There is your problem, he can't be stopped. The character has to have some sort of chance, and running away but still getting caught just dictates the antagonist as Gary Stu again.

Many of these can be overrode, like in stories such as the Suicide episode this. However, most of the time they are inadequate.

By the way, if you've made Creepypastas, I can post them on a list down here if you'd like. I'm making one myself, however it's in progress. No, discuss!

Eh, even torture scenes might not require the 16-paragraph death unless the character WILL DIE in that scene.

I agree with the majority of these points, with the exception of the last one. From what I understand, a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is, by definition, an example of wish fulfillment; it's the kind of character you'd want to be because they're so awesome without all the flaws that make life difficult. Slender Man, while powerful, is also a faceless monstrosity with a totally alien mindset and agenda. He hasn't been stopped because he appears to those who would be most vulnerable to his influence.

I don't think he quite fits the Gary Stu territory like the protagonist from that retarded creepypasta Happy Appy, who was able to perfectly piece together a raving lunatic's convoluted plans, then arm himself to the teeth with an arsenal of weapons he has for no adequately explained reason and blows away the villain all by himself while spouting one-liners. I agree some people on the internet have a way of exaggerating Slendy's abilities, but he's by no means overpowered.

I don't think he quite fits the Mary Sue/Gary Stu territory like Bella from Twilight or Kaldor Draigo of the Grey Knights who, respectively, are universally loved by everyone in the setting and can accomplish physically impossible feats through no adequately explained means other than "He's super-awesome and the spiritual-est liege in the Chapter". I agree some people on the internet have a way of exaggerating Slendy's abilities, but he's by no means overpowered.
Are you implying that Bella is a Mary Sue? She is not. She is very far from it.

If you're thinking of the movie, you need to go and read the book. She is much more different.

Sorry, I changed my reply before seeing yours. I admit to not being entirely familiar with the Twilight series, but I hope you understand my point otherwise.

While I do agree that there are a lot of shitty creepypastas out there(like sonic.exe...how fucking terrible that is), there are also some really damn good ones. In response to the lost episode ones, yes, I agree that most are pretty stupid. I did however find a creepypasta that isn't a lost episode, but it relates to them, and I liked it. Here it is: http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Lost_Episodes

Also, I do however really like Slenderman. While I haven't read the stories because they are most likely fan-made and terrible, I do watch 2 of the major series' about him on youtube, Marble Hornets and Tribe Twelve.
