if you read http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1025 more thoroughly, SCP-1025's effect is not actually "gives you diseases when you read entry about disease.", it actually gives you hypochondria(fear of diseases). notice how in the test log, the guy who read the entry on cancer of the lungs never actually showed any signs of lung cancer beyond coughing, and how the researchers seemed to be constantly exaggerating and justifying the effects of the scip?
i know changing this might not be feasible at this point, considering the erroneous interpretation of this SCP has been deeply engrained in the SCP containment breach fandom. but since regalis seems to be trying to keep the game as "canon" as possible, i thought i'd just point this out.
note: sorry for my terrible grammar. english isn't my first language.
Re: SCP-1025's function is completely wrong
#2No, the readers do not actually get the diseases, but they exhibit the symptoms of said diseases. If you were to get certain fatal diseases, you would get the symptoms of these diseases and you could possibly end up dying.SCP-1025 wrote:"Readers of the book seem to exhibit symptoms of any disease they read about. The effect can take between █ and ██ hours to manifest. (See Test Log)"
Edit: Forget this post, I misunderstood the SCP.

Re: SCP-1025's function is completely wrong
#3the description isn't actually entirely accurate, as it was written by people affected by SCP-1025's hypochondria effect.Trialtrex21 wrote:No, the readers do not actually get the diseases, but they exhibit the symptoms of said diseases. if you read the comments section of the SCP itself, the author (lasergoose) states that "it gradually convinces people that those around them are horribly infected with bad things". basically, it's webMD as an SCP.
Re: SCP-1025's function is completely wrong
#4Yes, but the problem with this is that the SCP article itself says that they exhibit effects of the disease. Just because the author said something like this in the comments doesn't make it completely canon. The only canon is what is written in the articles.Niblic wrote:the description isn't actually entirely accurate, as it was written by people affected by SCP-1025's hypochondria effect.

We aren't basing our canon off of what the comments section says. We are basing it off of what the articles actually say.
Edit: My apologies. I seem to have misunderstood the SCP. However, the player still feels the effects of the disease read, which is what the SCP does. You only exhibit these effects, but don't actually contract it.

Re: SCP-1025's function is completely wrong
#5but the whole "hypochondria" thing isn't just based off of that single comment. it is heavily implied(and even directly stated) in the article itself.Trialtrex21 wrote:Yes, but the problem with this is that the SCP article itself says that they exhibit effects of the disease. Yes, I understand this. However, the player would still exhibit the traits of the disease, despite hypochondria. They may not actually have the disease, but the whole effect of the SCP is that its supposed to make you and others think you have it.

Re: SCP-1025's function is completely wrong
#8I can see this being a problem, but with less fatal diseases, no change should be made. It's a small SCP that can hardly be found anymore anyway.Niblic wrote:how do you end up killing yourself because you think you have cardiac arrest?
We could just remove the cardiac arrest and keep the other diseases.

Re: SCP-1025's function is completely wrong
#10Could we just make the player fall unconscious and after a time he awakens with the effects of the disease just a little, A LITTLE less heavy, I mean, the player should be trembling and occasionally have a blurred seen.Trialtrex21 wrote: I can see this being a problem, but with less fatal diseases, no change should be made.
