SCP – Containment Breach v1.3

The new SCP – Containment Breach update created for the most part by ENDSHN and Vane Brain of the Third Subdivision Team (creators of the Nine Tailed Fox mod) is now out! Thank you all for your patience despite the continuous delays.

The update includes two new SCPs and expands the role of some of the existing SCPs a bit, but what I personally think is the most important part of this update are the numerous bugfixes and stability improvements. We managed to squash a bunch of nasty bugs that have been in the game for years (including a pretty severe pathfinding bug, doorways leading to nothingess and random Class Ds appearing in strange place, occasionally messing up scripted events) and a metric fuckton of smaller bugs.

The game is also up in GitHub now, which is why the latest version doesn’t come bundled with the source code.

Also, Barotrauma multisub update soon

SCP-CB’s 4th anniversary!

It’s been four years since the release of the first alpha version of SCP – Containment Breach, so I decided to make a little montage of the progress of the game. A big thank you to everyone who’s played the game during the years, all the people who’ve helped with the development and everyone else who’s been following and supporting the project!

As some of you may notice from the last few clips in the video, there’s some new stuff coming up: the developers of the Nine Tailed Fox Mod (ENDSHN and Vane Brain from Third Subdivision Team) have been working on a new update for the game for some time now (with some collaboration by me). The update will introduce a couple of new SCPs and expand the role of some of the existing SCPs, and also include a ton of bugfixes, optimization and some visual improvements (some of which can be seen in the video)!

Subsurface v0.1.1

A big thanks for all the feedback I’ve gotten on Subsurface, the amount of work people have been putting on getting the wiki up and of course everyone who’s played the game so far! The couple of multiplayer sessions I’ve taken a part of have been great fun despite all the bugs and other issues.

And speaking of bugs, Subsurface v0.1.1 is now out with a bunch of bugfixes and additions. Mostly stuff related to the multiplayer mode and some item bugfixes/improvements.

I think the next bigger thing I’ll be adding to Subsurface will be an in-game tutorial: I know the game is quite hard to figure out at the moment and I think many of the players haven’t managed to completely understand a large part of the game mechanics yet. I’ll also publish the source code on github as soon as I get around to writing some sort of EULA for it: since I’m planning on eventually putting a price tag on the finished game, I don’t think I should just “toss it out” the way I did with SCP-CB.

And no, I haven’t forgotten about the SCP-[REDACTED] update for SCP-CB. Now that the Subsurface release is out of the way, I think I’ll try to set some time aside to get the update done. The SCPs in the earlier “teaser posts” aren’t the only new thing coming up: Astray488 (the artist formerly known as Mirocaine) has been sending me some other cool stuff as well…

Release date for SCP-CB v1.1

SCP – Containment Breach v1.1 will be released next Friday (May 15th)!

Originally the plan was to release the update alongside Containment Breach: Run, a short horror film being created by Lotims Inc. Unfortunately everything hasn’t gone as smoothly as we hoped with the filming and the release date for both the update and the film has been delayed quite a bit. Watch the following video where Gage Allen, the director of the film, explains what’s been going on with the film and where they’re at now:

So, we’re not far from the finish line but the project will still take some time. If you want to help with getting the last bits of the film done, please consider donating to Lotims’ Patreon campaign.

Anyhow, since version 1.1 has been basically ready for release for several months and it’ll still be a little while before the film is out, it doesn’t make that much sense to keep everyone waiting. The update will be released on Friday next week!

To be honest, I’m a little worried that after such a long wait some of you will be disappointed with the amount of new stuff in the update. Please keep in mind that even though it’s been almost six months since the last update, I haven’t spent all this time working on SCP-CB. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve started putting more focus on other projects and for the past few months I haven’t really done anything with SCP-CB.

There will be some cool stuff in the update nevertheless, including a new difficulty system and a lot of stuff from the Box of Horrors mod (some of which has been expanded quite a bit!).

SCP – Containment Breach v1.1

The next update of SCP-CB will be released along with Containment Breach – Run. I can’t tell you the exact release date yet, but it’s not that far away!

There will be some pretty cool stuff in the update, most of which might look familiar if you’ve tried a mod called Box of Horrors. Although, most of the additions will be improved and expanded from the ones in BoH, so even if you have tried it, the update will definitely be worth checking out.
